A number of sites in northeastern Argentina combine a pleasant escape with the very best wildlife and scenery. Estancia Rincón del Socorro is a 12,000 hectare former cattle ranch on the edge of the Iberá wetlands that has been made into a nature reserve.
The open habitats of the Iberá marshes are famous for their virgin landscapes. This large provincial reserve has marshes, wet grasslands and light woodlands, providing superb photographic opportunities. Groups of Capybara (the world’s largest rodent), South American River Otter, Broad-snouted Caiman, and the handsome Marsh Deer are some of the highlights. |

The marshes have dense stands of water lilies, water hyacinths, papyrus and cattails, home of a varied birdlife; over 300 species. The stunning Strange-tailed Tyrant lives here together with Yellow-rumped Marshbird, White-headed Marsh-Tyrant, Scarlet headed Blackbird and many others.
The small, refined eco-tourist hotel is the ranch’s recycled main house. Our orientation is to give guests and visitors a good understanding of the local ecosystem and an appreciation for the importance of wetlands and savanna landscapes. |
