Located in one of the areas of highest biodiversity in Argentina, this forest lodge is a great representation of the Interior Atlantic (or Paraná) Forest habitat. The lush vegetation is home to over 300 species of birds, and supports botanical curiosities such as giant ferns, dense stands of bamboo, fruiting palms and a myriad of orchids, bromeliads, and other epiphytes. Upon arrival in Puerto Iguazú we will be transferred to the lodge, about 2:30 hours from that town. During this six-day visit to Yacutinga we will explore each of the forest trails, such as Tacuaras, Guayabal, Paleocauce and Chico Mendez. They all give access to beautiful forest.

Also, the presence of a navigable stream provides the chance to take a boat ride, when returning from the walk along Paleocauce stream. Among the most remarkable bird species are the Rusty-margined Guan, five species of Toucans and Toucanets, Foliage-gleaners, Antshrikes, Antwrens, White-backed Fire-eye, the rare and local Creamy-bellied Gnatcatcher, and the colorful Blue Dacnis, and Swallow, Guira and Green-headed Tanagers. Along the river there will be chances to encounter more secretive species like Sungrebe, Blue Manakin and Streamside Warbler. The gardens and open areas of the lodge are home to Plush-crested Jays, several hummingbirds, and during the night outings we may find as many as five species of owls. A visit to a neighboring Yerba Mate plantation is an interesting option as it will also add a number of open-country species. On the last day we will be transferred back to Puerto Iguazú.

A highly recommended optional is the addition of a couple of days before this tour, to visit the mythical falls.
