Probably one of the best ways to introduce you to birdwatching in Argentina is to visit to Costanera Sur Nature Reserve. This fantastic spot, with 360 ha. of protected land, offers the visitor a variety of habitats: lagoons, marshes, woodlands and grasslands, and provides a great sample of the Pampas environment. Best of all, it is located just 15 min away from downtown Buenos Aires! The checklist of birds now presented (adding almost 300 species) was compiled by German Pugnali and Pablo Chamorro, of Seriema NT and Aves Argentinas. They have worked compiling records from more than fifty birders that have been visiting the reserve during a period of over 20 years. Since the last edition of this checklist, released in 1994, 17 species have been added.
